About Us

The Virgin Islands Department of Education’s Office of Public Relations and Communications exists to heighten the public’s awareness of the Department’s mission to ensure that all students are prepared for college or the career of their choice upon graduation from high school.

In support of the mission, the Public Relations Office provides publicity for events, activities and the many successes of the Department’s schools, students, teachers, employees and leadership through internal and external communication.

The Office of Public Relations and Communication, through an integrated marketing communications approach services the marketing, branding, public, and media relations, advertising and graphic design needs of the Department, districts, and schools.

The Public Relations Office reports directly to the Commissioner of Education.

ST. THOMAS, USVI – Four schools in the St. Thomas-St. John District will dismiss at 1 p.m. on Oct. 12 due to equipment failure at the Charlotte Amalie High School kitchen that supplies meals to the school campuses: Ulla F. Muller Elementary School, Jane E. Tuitt Elementary School, Joseph Sibilly Elementary School, and Sugar Apple Pre-Kindergarten (Monroe Annex). Students will be fed a healthy snack prior to their departure from the campuses. Meal distribution sites that are also impacted include Paul M. Pearson Gardens Community Center, Oswald Harris Court Community Center, Winston Raymo Community Center, and Lovenlund Housing Development. The Department of Education will provide an update on the status of the schools and distribution sites for Oct. 13. The Bryan-Roach Administration is investing in the Territory’s people, infrastructure, and future through transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government, and ensuring that recovery projects are completed as quickly as possible. Ricardo Richards Elementary Classes to be Held Virtually

The Ricardo Richards Elementary School will conduct all classes virtually on Tues., Oct. 12 due to an ongoing water service interruption impacting the campus.

WAPA technicians are working to rectify the issue.

The school was released early on Fri., Oct. 8 due to the service interruption.

The Department of Education will provide an update as to when in-person learning would resume at the school.
