About Us

The Virgin Islands Department of Education’s Office of Public Relations and Communications exists to heighten the public’s awareness of the Department’s mission to ensure that all students are prepared for college or the career of their choice upon graduation from high school.

In support of the mission, the Public Relations Office provides publicity for events, activities and the many successes of the Department’s schools, students, teachers, employees and leadership through internal and external communication.

The Office of Public Relations and Communication, through an integrated marketing communications approach services the marketing, branding, public, and media relations, advertising and graphic design needs of the Department, districts, and schools.

The Public Relations Office reports directly to the Commissioner of Education.

ST. CROIX, USVI – The Alfredo Andrews Elementary School will resume in-person learning on Oct. 4. All in-person students and staff underwent COVID-19 testing by the V.I. Department of Health (VIDOH) on Oct. 1, and all test results returned negative.

The Claude O. Markoe Elementary School will remain closed to in-person learning the week of Oct. 4-8, with all classes being conducted virtually. Following COVID-19 testing by the VIDOH of all in-person students and staff on Sept. 30, four results returned positive. The VIDOH will conduct a second round of COVID-19 testing for Claude O. Markoe in-person students and staff later this week.

Both schools reverted to virtual learning the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 1 due to COVID-19 exposure.

St. Croix Meal Distribution Updates

ST. CROIX, USVI – The Virgin Islands Department of Education, St. Croix District, has announced updates to its ‘No V.I. Child Goes Hungry’ Feeding Initiative for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1

Meal distribution will resume at the Juanita Gardine K-8 School on Sept. 30; the site was temporarily closed on Sept. 29.

Families impacted by the site closures may pick up meals at any of the open sites from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., while supplies last.
