Education Commissioner Sharon Ann McCollum, Ph.D., hosted a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Education and Culture in the BVI on November 8 to discuss ways in which the USVI and the BVI education departments could work more closely together.
Topics of discussion centered around agriculture, cultural programing, sports and music. Agreements were made to have greater participation of students in each territory's cultural events and activities. The first of which will include participation of BVI students in St. Croix's upcoming carnival celebrations in January 2017. USVI students are also expected to participate in BVI celebrations in the coming months.
The BVI delegation also toured the Education Department's main headquarters and met with leaders of various divisions.
The one-day meeting is in line with the long friendship the two territories continue to enjoy.
