HOW YOU CAN HELP

One way is by making a special financial donation on Clayton's Go Fund Me page, here.

THERE ARE OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP CLAYTON'S OLYMPIC DREAMS COME TRUE. Learn more about Clayton, in his own words, and find out some of the other ways you can help him get to Rio.

My name is Clayton A. Laurent Jr. I am 25 years old and a 2016 Olympic representative for the U.S. Virgin Islands in the sport of boxing in the 91+KG weigh division. It has been my dream to become an Olympian and Olympic medallist.

Currently, I am one of the two 2016 Olympians that are living, training, and compete in the VI. As a fighter, competing in the Olympics and winning a medal is the greatest thing you can achieve as an amateur boxer. This dream is only made a reality once you've beaten the best boxer in your region division at the Olympic Qualifier. Now that I have qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio Brazil, I will be representing my county on the highest level of competition that you can achieve in any sport. In Rio I will be facing the best in the world in the sport of boxing to achieve the boxer’s dream of not only becoming a Olympian but also an Olympic gold medallist.

My goal is to make history by becoming the first US Virgin Islander to become a Gold Medallist in the Olympics for the sport of boxing. This journey has begun with increasing my fight experience and training. Unfortunately, with the demographics here in the Virgin Islands, there are no current sparring partners for me to fight against to adequately prepare me for the opponents that I will face in the Olympics.  My team and I made contacts in Dallas, Texas where a more optimal training environment exists. Heavy weights of different styles and levels of experience have enhanced my skills, timing and overall fight IQ which has better prepared me to be an Olympic Gold medal contender.

I am currently funded by the US Virgin Island Government and its Olympic committee.  They have been doing their best to financially support me as I represent the county, but they are unable to provide all of the essentials needed to prepare for victory. I believe with your help and the continued support of my coaches, teammates, and the people of the Virgin Islands, I can accomplish this dream.

I am seeking sponsors to donate either monetary funds or essential training supplies. I have included a list of key training requirements below and their estimated costs.  Please be aware that all donations are tax deductible through the “USVI Olympic Committee,” which is a non-profit organization. A letter of donation will accompany your gift.

Roundtrip airfare to Dallas for training camp cost $ 773.78 (Donated)

Training camp for July-August $1,500

Training camp expenses as follows:

Groin Protector $ 180.00 (Donated)

Braces/Medical supplies $80.00

Boxing Boots $190.00

*Medical Care as follows:

Physical Therapy

Orthopedic Evaluation

Internal Medicine physician clearance

*While monetary donations are appreciated, I am requesting donated medical services as the Olympic committee does not provide health insurance and there are several medical clearances that are required by the international governing body of amateur boxing. (AIBA).

While I'm currently training on island, I will be undergoing interviews both televised and via radio. This will be a great opportunity for me to highlight my sponsors and their businesses and share how they are currently helping me to achieve my Olympic dream. Donated items may include your business logos or name.

I am also available to attend any functions, fundraisers, or events that you would like me to attend featuring your company apparel or logo. I will be documenting my progress through social medial as well which will enable me to enlighten my fans and the public about your business.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you personally.

Please feel free to contact me for further questions or concerns.
