Getting a warmup before jetting off to Tampa Bay Florida to play ball in a 16 and under softball league, was T’yell “Precious” Jeppesen a 16-year-old junior and 3rd-year leader of the CAHS Lady Chickenhawks team.

Starting out playing the game from in elementary school, T’yell’s abilities on the field has opened up opportunities for her to spend time training with teams in Puerto Rico and has earned her a few trophies as a member of the junior stars baseball team from the territory.

While most pitchers on the teams in the tournament just toss the ball over the plate at a moderate pace, T’yell fast-pitch softball style way of throwing makes the ball difficult to hit and promotes fear in batters. Her slowest pitch in the championship game was easily 30-miles per hour, putting the Hawks opponent at a great disadvantage.

She credits Mr. Marlon Richardson for helping with fine-tuning her pitch but says, “I thought myself, how to pitch starting at the age of three.”

“I’ve been playing with the girls for a long time now, so they are like my sisters and because of that, we play with confidence.

T’yell was named the MVP of the tournament with 19 strikeouts, a title she is all too familiar with. Dealing with her nerves at the beginning of every game is another familiarity.

“I was very nervous before the game but after a while, I get over it and I come to beat them,” she concluded.

Her favorite subject in school is math and her goal is to pursue a career in nursing at Florida State University upon graduation in 2019. Will she give up softball? “Never,” she says.
