ALL CLEAR RECEIVED FOR LOCKHART K-8 SCHOOL AND CAMPUS RESUMES SCHOOL OPERATIONS
On Monday, December 4, 2023, the Virgin Islands Police Department received a report of a potential threat at Lockhart K-8 School on St. Thomas through a 911 call. The caller conveyed information about a student allegedly carrying a loaded weapon on the school campus. In response, the Virgin Islands Department of Education was immediately informed, prompting Lockhart K-8 School to initiate a comprehensive lockdown procedure.
School officials activated safety and security protocols to ensure the well-being of students, faculty, and staff while the VIPD conducted a thorough sweep of the campus. Subsequent to the VIPD's diligent safety inspection, school authorities received the "all clear" signal, confirming the absence of any threat on the campus. Consequently, Lockhart K-8 School has resumed normal school operations, with assurance that all students, faculty, and staff are secure.
