St. Croix Educational Complex 2013-2014 Orientation/Fee Schedule and New Uniform Policy

Mr. Willard John, Principal of the St. Croix Educational Complex High School, is advising parents/guardians and students of the following August orientation dates – parents and guardians must accompany their child/children for the orientation.

 
Aug. 20, 21, and 22nd from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm:
Pre-Orientation: Locker sales, school insurance, and ID picture taking (must have on white shirt with collar)
 
Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 – 12th grade students from 11:00 a.m.
(New and returning students) in school uniform
 
Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 – 11th grade students from 1:30 p.m.
 (New and returning students) in school uniform
 
Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 – 10th grade students from 11:00 a.m.
(New and returning students) in school uniform
 
Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 – 9th grade Session 1
A-I  students from 11:00 a.m. (Only NEW students) in school uniform
Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 – 9th grade         Session 2
 J-Z   students from 1:30 p.m. (Only NEW students) in school uniform
 
Students must come to orientation prepared to pay  the following fees:
•       School Insurance - $15.00
•       School ID - $15.00
•       School Lockers - $10.00
All other school fees will be announced through your child’s/children’s teachers. Only cash or money orders – no checks – will be accepted.
 
Tuesday, September 3, 2013 – Classes begin - ALL STUDENTS return. During school hours, students are asked to adhere to the following school uniform policies and be attired properly at all times:
 
GIRLS
Skirt: (Plaid) boxed or knife accordion pleated, no shorter than knee length. The
back of the skirt must reach the bend at the back of the knee. No designs,
yokes, bibs, gathers, cummerbund waists, wraps, splits or skorts.
 
Blouse: White regular loosed polo shirt with sleeve, or short sleeve cotton blouse, buttoned down at the front with collar. Blouses /shirts should not be embellished with the plaid material of the skits.
Shoes: (A) Dress Shoes: only black, brown or gray. No slides, mules, high   
       heels, jelly beans, or ballerina flats.
        (B) Sneakers: black, white or gray only. No slide-in sneakers.
Socks: White or blue only. Socks must be visible and worn while wearing the school uniform.
Jewelry: One small pair of earrings and one watch allowed. No chain or bracelets will be allowed. Seniors will be allowed to wear their class rings when purchased.
 
BOYS
Pants: Long gray dress pants only, not exceeding shoe soles. No extra embroidered or printed designs, no cargo or over-sized pants. No exceptions to this policy will be allowed. Absolutely no jeans or denim pants will be allowed.
Shirt: White polo or short-sleeve cotton shirt, buttoned down at the front with collar. 
Shoes :       (A) Dress Shoes: only black, brown, or gray shoes
                (B) Sneakers: Black, white or gray only.
Socks: White, blue or gray only. Boots of any kind are no longer permitted. Socks must be worn while wearing the school uniform.
Jewelry: NO earrings, chain or bracelet. One watch will be allowed. Seniors will be allowed to wear their class ring when purchased.
 
UNISEX BOYS/GIRLS:
Hair must be well groomed, no caps or hats. Absolutely no head wraps of any kind will be permitted to include head ties, scarves, do-rags, bandanas, stocking caps or head wraps. If religious affiliation mandates head wrapping, cases will be dealt with individually. Students claiming this exemption must have a note from their local religious leader on file.
 
Additionally:
-       No sunglasses
-       No windbreakers or jackets except on rainy days, at which time they will not extend beyond the waist and zippers will be kept in an open position. Exceptions for this rule will apply only for students with medical conditions, as specified by a valid doctor’s note.
-       There will be no multicolored belts or belts with excessive extensions hanging down (in a tail-like fashion)
-       Only white or gray undershirts can be worn under the school shirt or blouse (to include t-shirts or marinas). Colors other than white or gray are prohibited.
-       School ID’s are now a mandatory part of the uniform and should be worn at all times. Students will have until September 30th of each school year to purchase their ID’s.
-       Ties may be worn by seniors only. They may be gray or made with the plaid of the school skirt. Absolutely no bandanas will be displayed as a part of the uniform.
 
Violations of the uniform policy in part, or its entirety will result in disciplinary actions, to include being sent home until the proper adjustment (s) is/are made. It is recognized that not all situations and conditions can possibly be covered by a dress code. Therefore, the administration reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of any item of school dress.
