Public School Registration Announced for St. Thomas Students Leaving Head Start and Entering Kindergarten in SY 2021-2022 

 

ST. THOMAS, USVI – The Virgin Islands Department of Education, St. Thomas-St. John District, has announced registration for current Head Start students who will be entering Kindergarten in school year 2021-2022. 

 

All children entering kindergarten must be age five (5) on or before Dec. 31 of the same year registering for Kindergarten.  

 

Registration hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the designated locations. A mask or facial covering is required.

Parents who missed or did not complete the registration process may do so from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 1 at Edith Williams Alternative Academy. 

 

REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS NEEDED 

  • Original Birth Certificate or Baptismal Certificate  
  • V.I. Immunization Card or Current Certified Exemption Letter from the Department of Health 
  • Health Clearance Form: Form must be obtained from one of the Department of Health Clinics which are: 

¨ East-End Clinic (Green Slip),  

¨ Maternal and Child Health (Blue Slip)  

  • Valid Photo ID: Identification (ex: license, passport, etc.) 
  • Proof of Physical Address: A Recent WAPA Bill, license government issued document or receipt showing name and current physical address of parent/guardian. 

A. If Living with Family or Friends: A notarized Residency Affidavit and proof of address from the owner or tenant is required when the parent/guardian and student reside with a family member or friend. Residency Affidavit is available upon request. 

B. Resident without Rent Receipt or Lease Agreement: A notarized Landlord Affidavit and proof of address from the owner of the property (or the person authorized to lease the property on behalf of the owner) is needed when the parent/guardian is renting a home but is unable to obtain a rent receipt to prove occupancy of a residence. Landlord Affidavit is available upon request. 

  • Valid Photo ID: Identification (ex: license, passport, etc.) is required for person registering student; 
  •  Proof of Guardianship/Power of Attorney (If child is not living with one or both biological parents); 
  • Individualized Education Plan (IEP): Required for students receiving Special Education Services 

**Student must be present at registration and accompanied by biological parent/legal guardian

Public School Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration Announced for St. John Students for SY 2021-2022 

 

ST. THOMAS, USVI – The Virgin Islands Department of Education, St. Thomas-St. John District, will conduct registration for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students on St. John for school year 2021-2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 19 at the Julius E. Sprauve School. 

 

All children entering pre-kindergarten must be age four (4) on or before Dec. 31 of the same year registering to enter pre-kindergarten; all children entering kindergarten must be age five (5) on or before Dec. 31 of the same year registering to enter kindergarten.  

 

A mask or facial covering is required to be worn during registration.
