For Coaches

Updated to correct version at 10 am on Wednesday October 24, 2018

All sports coaches who are currently coaching a VIDE school sports team should now be certified. Coaches who are not certified can’t receive a stipend. Coaches of teams whose sports do not start until later in the year should continue working on their certification or recertification. But remember, School Principals can only choose certified coaches.

VIDE Sports Certified coaches previously certified before 2018 must complete courses in Concussions and First Aid by September 2018 to maintain their certification.

Go to the vide.vi/our divisions/Coaches Certification Information and the NFHSLearn.com website to find out more information about the online courses.

Commissioner Nominee Berry-Benjamin Moves On To The Full Body Confirmation Hearing

Almost one month after placing education commissioner nominee, Racquel Berry-Benjamin's bid to becoming the youngest commissioner to head the Dept. of Education on hold, the Committee on Rules and Judiciary unanimously voted to push her forward to a hearing and confirmation votes by the full Senate body.
During her first visit to the legislature, Senators reprimanded Berry- Benjamin for not showing enough of the Bryan/Roach’s campaign promise to change course now.

Committee Chairperson, Senator Mona Barnes, was one of five senators during the first round of questioning who expressed their lack of confidence in the governor’s pick and suggested that the proceedings be adjured until a later date to allow the nominee an opportunity to sit with the government and get in sync with his plans for the education department.
Racquel Berry-Benjamin took on that task seriously and returned a more-prepared and knowledgeable candidate for commissioner. Read more about her preparation, speech, consultors plans for the department and a very special friend who spoke on Mrs. Berry-Benjamin’s behalf by clicking on this link right here.
